Missions are a vital part of the life at Church Of The Savior. While due to COVID-19 restrictions we are severely limited as to the actions that we are able to take. We continue to support our mission partners.
The congregation has undertaken the admonition of Jesus and called for all 5th (4) Sundays to be of service outside the regular sanctuary. This past Sunday found the congregation (18 in numbers) Â sacking food items and water for distribution from 600 to 800 people in the next week or two.
As the Super Bowl is being played, Church Of The Savior members brought in cans of soup for our own SOUPer Bowl. Our small congregation brought in 130 cans of soup to be sent to the Urban Mission.
The Church Of The Savior is in the process of building a relationship with the Oklahoma City Homeless Alliance. During the month of October the members were asked to bring in baskets filled with items to assist in transition from Homeless to new housing. The mission commission challenged our small congregation to fill 20 baskets.
A planned mission trip to Belize through The Word At Work had to be put on hold due to COVID-19. This was supposed to be a return of many of the youth that went to Belize to work on building a church and housing in a depressed area of Belize. We are looking forward to restrictions to be lifted so this project can go forward.
In the collection plate we gather what is called Silent Bucks, our members place dollar bills in the collection plate and each month these dollars are given to a designated mission partner. Some of these partners are: La Luz Organization, New View, One Great Hour Of Sharing, Curbside Chronicles, Dress For Success, Urban Mission and Community Literacy Center.
